It started last year with a simple “hi” on Canal Street in New York… Which then turned into a Post-it war in Lower Manhattan. Copies of Spider Man, Angry Birds and Andy Warhol and several text messages decorated the office windows. Not only in yellow, but in all colours of the rainbow. The first Post-it message was answered by a rival company on the other side of the street with “sup”, an abbreviation of “what’s up”. It developed into a creative explosion between the two buildings, in which mainly communication and advertising companies were housed. There were no limits, as long as everything was produced in Post-its.
Manufacturer 3M probably could never have imagined that a couple of renowned advertising agencies would spend so much time promoting their product in such a remarkable way, and without even charging a penny. The company provided the agencies with cases full of Post-its and advice on how to produce beautiful pieces of art.
