--- title: 3D Printing with Hydrodipping description: Hydrodipping is a technique used to print 3D objects. It looks like magic. Take a look at the video demonstrating this technique. image: https://blog.leoprinting.co.uk/hubfs/Hydrodipping-2.jpg --- [![leoprinting-logo-25](https://blog.leoprinting.co.uk/hs-fs/hubfs/leoprinting-logo-25.png?width=250&height=45&name=leoprinting-logo-25.png) ](https://blog.leoprinting.nl/) - [GO TO LEOPRINTING.CO.UK](https://www.leoprinting.co.uk/) - [CONTACT](https://www.leoprinting.co.uk/page/en/contact) - [![UK](https://blog.leoprinting.co.uk/hubfs/flags/en.png) English](https://blog.leoprinting.co.uk/) - [![UK](https://blog.leoprinting.co.uk/hubfs/flags/nl.png) Nederlands](https://blog.leoprinting.nl/) - [![UK](https://blog.leoprinting.co.uk/hubfs/flags/de.png) Deutsch](https://blog.leoprinting.de/) - [![UK](https://blog.leoprinting.co.uk/hubfs/flags/be.png) Belgium](https://blog.leoprinting.be/) - [![UK](https://blog.leoprinting.co.uk/hubfs/flags/fr.png) Français](https://blog.leoprinting.fr/) - [![UK](https://blog.leoprinting.co.uk/hubfs/flags/es.png) Español](https://blog.leoprinting.es/) [![Hydrodipping-2](https://blog.leoprinting.co.uk/hubfs/Hydrodipping-2.jpg)](https://blog.leoprinting.co.uk/blog/3d-printing-hydrodipping) # 3D Printing with Hydrodipping 28/ 07/2017 [Leoprinting](https://blog.leoprinting.co.uk/author/leoprinting) [Leoprinting](https://blog.leoprinting.co.uk/tag/leoprinting-en), [News](https://blog.leoprinting.co.uk/tag/nieuws-en), [Products](https://blog.leoprinting.co.uk/tag/producten-en) A designer often looks differently at objects than the average consumer. He will be more critical, but also sometimes astounded. I experienced this recently when I came across a video about hydrodipping on Facebook. My first thought was that it looked like magic! Hydrodipping, also called ‘water transfer printing’, is a kind of 3D printing that will transfer every desired print on an object. It’s especially convenient when printing on difficult shapes that otherwise can’t be reached. What about a lightweight rim or a grille? The exact origin of hydrodipping is unclear. However, the first American patent was registered by Motoyasu Nakanishi of Kabushiki Kaisha Cubic Engineering on July 26 1982. Preparation is time-consuming. The background colour often stays visible because the foil used to print is transparent. The foil and print are being sunken in the water and will dissolve, leaving only the print to float on the surface. A specialist slowly drowns the object so the ink will attach to the object. It’s a miraculous process. I advise you to take a look at the video below. After hydrodipping of the object a final coating will be applied to make sure the print will be sustainable. The possibilities are endless! You can apply hydrodipping on basically everything that can also be sprayed, such as car or motor parts, sports equipment and gadgets. https://youtu.be/F3Q6r5yoSUk   ### Share this: - [Twitter](https://twitter.com/intent/tweet?url=https://blog.leoprinting.co.uk/blog/3d-printing-hydrodipping&text=3D%20Printing%20with%20Hydrodipping) - [Facebook](http://www.facebook.com/share.php?u=https://blog.leoprinting.co.uk/blog/3d-printing-hydrodipping) - [Google](https://plus.google.com/share?url=https://blog.leoprinting.co.uk/blog/3d-printing-hydrodipping) - [E-mail](mailto:?subject=3D%20Printing%20with%20Hydrodipping%20&%20body=https://blog.leoprinting.co.uk/blog/3d-printing-hydrodipping) - LinkedIn ### *Related* ## [The use of seed paper in these top 6 industries](https://blog.leoprinting.co.uk/the-use-of-seed-paper-in-these-top-6-industries) 12/06/2024 in Marketing, Products, Inspiration, Employee Loyalty, Customer Loyalty ## [Top 10 corporate year end gifts 2023](https://blog.leoprinting.co.uk/top-10-corporate-year-end-gifts-2023) 28/08/2023 in Leoprinting, News, Products, trends ## [HOW TO CREATE AND SELL YOUR OWN PERSONAL planner?](https://blog.leoprinting.co.uk/how-to-create-and-sell-your-own-personal-planner) 23/06/2023 in Marketing, News, Products [Minimalism: 'less is more'](https://blog.leoprinting.co.uk/blog/minimalism-less-is-more) [The history of pantone](https://blog.leoprinting.co.uk/blog/3489-2) ### SUBSCRIBE TO OUR BLOG ### Follow Us ### POPULAR MESSAGES ![guinness](https://blog.leoprinting.co.uk/hs-fs/hubfs/guinness.jpg?width=133&name=guinness.jpg) [Guinness signs a lease for 9000 years](https://blog.leoprinting.co.uk/blog/guinness-signs-lease-9000-years) Jan 17, 2018 ![](https://blog.leoprinting.co.uk/hs-fs/hubfs/Imported_Blog_Media/EgyptianBlue-1024x683-1.jpg?width=133&name=EgyptianBlue-1024x683-1.jpg) [The History of the colour Blue](https://blog.leoprinting.co.uk/blog/history-colour-blue) Dec 07, 2018 ![Welcome gift packages for new employees Leoprinting](https://blog.leoprinting.co.uk/hs-fs/hubfs/Welkomstpakketten-Leoprinting-1160x360.jpg?width=133&name=Welkomstpakketten-Leoprinting-1160x360.jpg) [Welcome packages for new employees: Inspiration from top companies](https://blog.leoprinting.co.uk/welcome-packages-for-new-employees-inspiration-from-top-companies) Oct 23, 2024 ### ARCHIVE - [Marketing (37)](https://blog.leoprinting.co.uk/tag/marketing-en) - [Leoprinting (30)](https://blog.leoprinting.co.uk/tag/leoprinting-en) - [News (26)](https://blog.leoprinting.co.uk/tag/nieuws-en) - [Products (18)](https://blog.leoprinting.co.uk/tag/producten-en) - [Inspiration (8)](https://blog.leoprinting.co.uk/tag/inspiration) - [Leoprinting (5)](https://blog.leoprinting.co.uk/tag/leoprinting) - [Marketing (5)](https://blog.leoprinting.co.uk/tag/marketing-be) - [Employee Loyalty (3)](https://blog.leoprinting.co.uk/tag/employee-loyalty) - [Customer Loyalty (2)](https://blog.leoprinting.co.uk/tag/customer-loyalty) - [Marketing (1)](https://blog.leoprinting.co.uk/tag/marketing-de) - [Moleskine (1)](https://blog.leoprinting.co.uk/tag/moleskine-nl) - [News (1)](https://blog.leoprinting.co.uk/tag/news) - [Printing techniques (1)](https://blog.leoprinting.co.uk/tag/printing-techniques) - [Trade show (1)](https://blog.leoprinting.co.uk/tag/trade-show) - [Uncategorized (1)](https://blog.leoprinting.co.uk/tag/uncategorized-fr) - [trends (1)](https://blog.leoprinting.co.uk/tag/trends) See all ### CATEGORIES - [Marketing (37)](https://blog.leoprinting.co.uk/tag/marketing-en) - [Leoprinting (30)](https://blog.leoprinting.co.uk/tag/leoprinting-en) - [News (26)](https://blog.leoprinting.co.uk/tag/nieuws-en) - [Products (18)](https://blog.leoprinting.co.uk/tag/producten-en) - [Inspiration (8)](https://blog.leoprinting.co.uk/tag/inspiration) - [Leoprinting (5)](https://blog.leoprinting.co.uk/tag/leoprinting) - [Marketing (5)](https://blog.leoprinting.co.uk/tag/marketing-be) - [Employee Loyalty (3)](https://blog.leoprinting.co.uk/tag/employee-loyalty) - [Customer Loyalty (2)](https://blog.leoprinting.co.uk/tag/customer-loyalty) - [Marketing (1)](https://blog.leoprinting.co.uk/tag/marketing-de) - [Moleskine (1)](https://blog.leoprinting.co.uk/tag/moleskine-nl) - [News (1)](https://blog.leoprinting.co.uk/tag/news) - [Printing techniques (1)](https://blog.leoprinting.co.uk/tag/printing-techniques) - [Trade show (1)](https://blog.leoprinting.co.uk/tag/trade-show) - [Uncategorized (1)](https://blog.leoprinting.co.uk/tag/uncategorized-fr) - [trends (1)](https://blog.leoprinting.co.uk/tag/trends) See all ### About Leoprinting Your idea, the unique promotional product.
